Depression
Depression isn't a sign of weakness, and it isn't something you can just snap out of — it's a real condition, and support helps.
How it shows up
Everyone has down days, but depression is different — it’s a persistent low mood that lasts weeks or months, not just a few days. Signs can be psychological, physical, and social:
- Ongoing sadness, hopelessness, or tearfulness
- Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
- Trouble concentrating or making decisions
- Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy
- Pulling back from friends, work, or hobbies
Depression can be triggered by a specific event — a loss, a job change, becoming a new parent — or it can show up without an obvious cause. It’s also worth telling apart from grief: grief comes and goes even while you’re still able to enjoy things and look forward to the future, while depression tends to sit as a constant, flat weight.
How hypnotherapy helps
Hypnotherapy works alongside proper care, not instead of it — if you’re feeling persistently low, it’s important to talk to a doctor or mental health professional as a first step. Within that context, Pattie uses clinical hypnosis to help clients work through fears, self-sabotage, regret, and negative thought patterns that keep depression in place, and to help rebuild a sense of confidence and worth. The goal is to help you set the past down enough to look toward the future again.
This is real work, not a quick fix. It takes a genuine desire to make the shift and consistent effort alongside the sessions.
What a session looks like
Every new client starts with a free 20-minute consultation, available remotely or in person, seven days a week. Sessions with Pattie are $150 at her Scottsdale office or by Zoom.
Common questions
Does hypnotherapy replace medication or therapy? No — it’s meant to support your existing care, not substitute for medical or clinical treatment.
What if I’ve been feeling low for a long time and haven’t told anyone? That’s more common than people think. Reaching out — to a doctor, a therapist, or in a free consultation — is often the hardest and most important first step.
How is this different from just talking to someone? Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious patterns underneath the thoughts, not just the thoughts themselves, which can help loosen patterns that talking alone hasn’t shifted.
