Insomnia
Sleep is when your body and mind actually repair themselves — so when it won't come, everything else starts to suffer too.
How it shows up
Insomnia means trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or getting sleep that actually leaves you feeling rested. About a third of people go through periods of it at some point, and it tends to affect people over 60 and women more often. Common signs include:
- Fatigue and low energy during the day
- Trouble concentrating or thinking clearly
- Irritability
- Anxiety or low mood tied to the lack of sleep
- Feeling wired at night even when exhausted
Left unaddressed, ongoing sleep loss can affect more than just how tired you feel — it’s linked to higher risk of high blood pressure and heart problems, and it makes learning, creativity, and problem-solving noticeably harder.
How hypnotherapy helps
Sometimes there’s an obvious reason for disrupted sleep. Often there isn’t. Hypnotherapy works with your subconscious to help surface what might be feeding the pattern, then uses relaxation techniques — like progressive muscle relaxation — to ease the mental and physical tension that keeps sleep light or broken. Pattie also works with clients to build a wind-down routine, since what you do in the hours before bed shapes how well you actually sleep.
This isn’t a sedative and it can’t force sleep on command. What it can do is help quiet the noise that’s getting in the way — but that only works if you’re genuinely willing to build the habit alongside it.

Common questions
Is this the same as taking a sleep aid? No — hypnotherapy doesn’t sedate you. It works on the thought patterns and tension that are getting in the way of natural sleep.
How long until I notice a difference? It varies. Some people notice a shift within a few sessions; others take longer depending on how long the pattern has been in place.
Should I see a doctor too? If you suspect an underlying medical sleep condition, yes — hypnotherapy works well alongside medical care, not instead of it.
