It’s more like a low hum underneath everything — trouble sitting still, a mind that keeps circling back to your to-do list, or a body that stays tense even when nothing is technically wrong. Some people only notice it when they try to rest and can’t, or when small stresses seem to stick around far longer than they should.

How hypnotherapy helps

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused suggestion to help you experience — and remember — what genuine calm feels like. Many people are so used to running at a certain level of tension that they’ve forgotten what “relaxed” actually is. Sessions with Pattie work on training that state so it becomes something you can access on your own, not just something that happens in her office.

This isn’t about numbing out or escaping. It’s a skill-building process, and like any skill, it takes practice and a real willingness to slow down and pay attention to yourself.

What a session looks like

Everyone starts with a free 20-minute consultation, so you and Pattie can talk through what’s driving the tension and what you’re hoping to get out of it. From there, sessions are $150 and available at her Scottsdale office or by Zoom for clients who prefer to do this from home.

Common questions

Isn’t this the same as meditation? There’s overlap — both involve focused calm — but hypnotherapy adds targeted suggestion aimed at your specific stressors, rather than a general mindfulness practice.

Will I be “under” or unconscious? No. You stay aware the whole time. It’s a deeply relaxed, focused state, not sleep.

How soon will I feel a difference? Many people notice they leave a session calmer than they arrived, but building relaxation into a lasting habit usually takes a few sessions of consistent work.
